Long Working Hours With Low Pay
Not uncommon for children who worked in factories to work 12-14 hours with the same minimal breaks but they also worked for low pay. Some were paid as little as 40 cent to $1.10 per night. Children of the poorest families were even turned over to the mills and factory owners because they were unable to support the child. (3)
